ANOTHER quick relative time of the weekend at Chantilly was Limato who ran seriously fast also in winning the Prix de la Foret by a long-looking three lengths from Karar, a performance which is up there on the clock with his 126 timefigure gained in victory in the July Cup at Newmarket.

In most respects, Limato is an exceptionally easy horse to make sense of; he is high-class but not quite in the elite bracket of, say, a peak-form Mecca’s Angel or Postponed. However, whether he would be better going for the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint over an easy six and a half furlongs or the Breeders’ Cup Mile over a tight mile is not so easy to say.
