THERE were a handful of noteworthy performances away from the main stages in the week under review.
I have to admit to having had a few quid on Cosmeapolitan for the Triumph Hurdle before he made his hurdling debut at Newbury on the 14th (Wednesday week) on account of the ability he showed in sometimes adverse circumstances on the flat. The Alan King-trained gelding duly won, despite jumping poorly, but neither his overall time nor his sectionals were impressive. Still, there should be plenty of room for improvement.
