GOLDREAM had put up one of the fastest timefigures of the campaign so far (121: only Golden Horn and Clever Cookie have been clearly quicker) when winning the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket, but it still came as a bit of a surprise that he could land the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes from the veteran Medicean Man on the back of a disappointing effort at Haydock.
This is unlikely to go down as a vintage King’s Stand, and the timefigure for the race is certainly not, though Goldream himself has done little but improve in the last 12 months.
