THERE was a fair bit of interest going on at the Curragh on Friday, with Soffia continuing her good run of form for Edward Lynam by holding off Dan’s Dream by a neck in the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes. This featured quite a slow finish and Soffia’s 98 basic timefigure was some way below her 111 peak as a result.

However, the biggest pointers for the future surely came in the seven-furlong juvenile maiden earlier on the card, in which Lope Y Fernandez ran a 94 basic timefigure, raised to 99 on the back of some good late sectionals, to win by a clear margin and in the style of a group performer in the making.
