IT was good to see Buveur D’Air back in the winner’s enclosure on Friday after the Punchestown Champion Hurdle, though he did not do enough to make himself the undisputed champion of the two-mile hurdlers in beating Supasundae by two and a half lengths with the other five runners close on their heels.

His time was about 0.5s slower than that recorded by the juvenile Gardens Of Babylon later on the card, though he was a lot quicker from three out than that gelding and carried 8lb more, too.
