THE HSI Studbook Series five-year-old final saw 39 combinations go to post at Cavan Equestrian Centre last Sunday. Of these 20 produced a double clear round to share in the €2,500 prize fund.

In the six-year-old division, 11 of the 30 starters laid down a double clear to divide the prize pot.

Emma Horgan’s gelding Seaview Demonstration, ridden by Alan O’Regan, won the seven-year-old division. A total of 23 combinations lined out for the 1.30m track. An even dozen made it through to the second round against the clock, just six managed to keep a clean sheet and O’Regan was best of these aboard the James Keane-bred Seaview Demonstration (FSS Corelli Bravo x Castlelawn Galloway) in 31 seconds.

Second went to Max O’Reilly Hyland, riding his own Ballypatrick-bred BP Limitless (Elvis Ter Putte x Laughton’s Flight), in 32.18. Another to come from Ballypatrick Stables, the Seamus Casey-bred Thomascourt Ballypatrick (Balou Du Rouet x Indoctro) and Charlotte Jacobs were third in 32.41.

Aisling McGreal and her own mare Rincoola Macushla (OBOS Quality x Touchdown), who was bred by the late Harold McGahern, finished in fourth, while Derek McConnell and John Naughton’s Farrelly’s Ginger Ale were fifth.

The only other double clear round came from Olive Clarke and Pure Jump Ltd’s Panama FZ (Clarimo x Caretino) who slotted into sixth.

The next and fourth round of the eight-round series takes place at Mullingar International Show over the June bank holiday weekend (June 2nd-3rd).
