THE much-anticipated start of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series got under way at Galway Equestrian last Sunday. With horses well schooled during the lockdown, it came as no surprise that the standard was high in all divisions.

In the five-year-olds, 71 combinations went to post and from those, 20 delivered clears, seven incurred a single time fault and three incurred two-time faults. In the six-year-olds, a total of 28 clear rounds were delivered from a 42-strong start list. A further four picked up a single time fault and seven had just one pole on the ground.
