KILDARE’s Derek McConnell became The Underwriting Exchange Grand Prix 2020 Champion at Wexford Equestrian after finishing fourth in the final round of the popular series with Dothraki Warlord.

Although the title was still up for grabs going into the final, with Liam O’Meara and Mark Finnerty not featuring in the line-up, McConnell won it by booking his place in the six-way jump-off. He claimed the league on a total of 47 points, nine points ahead of his closest rival. The former Army Equitation rider is based in Longfield Stud in Rathangan, Co Kildare.
