5yo RDS Qualifier

THE five-year-old qualifier saw the largest field of the day with a massive 106 combinations lining out over the Tom Holden-designed track for the 12 places on offer.

Ennisnag Stud’s stallion ESI Indigo (Dakar VDL –Guidam) proved best of the bunch with young rider Harry Wood in the saddle. The pair stopped the clock in the timed third round at 37.20 to head proceedings.

Taylor Cummins rode Sharon Fitzpatrick’s CBI Invictus (Tyson – Diamant De Semilly) bred by Carroll Brothers Ireland into second place in 39.30.

Connaberry Luck (Goodluck VDL – Ard Vdl Douglas) took third place for owner/rider David Moran and breeder Andrew Lyons in 39.91.

Junior Marta Hughes Bravo ensured the Bravo Hughes horses were represented when she took fourth place with the Olivia Brennan-bred GCS Rosie (Luidam – L’Arc De Triomphe) in 40.58.

Next Question (VDL Orestus - Damiro), bred by Tracey and Margaret Gallagher, and ridden by Tom Hearne were fifth, while Barbara Allen riding Edward Widger’s Oke Lulu Star (Luidam – Germus R) took sixth for breeder Martina McCrory.

Make Me Happy (Dignified Van’t Zorgvliet – Temple Vend) lived up to his name for breeder Sean Hurley, owner Mauricee Cousins and rider Sophie Richards when they qualified in seventh place.

Owner/rider Tholm Keane and the home-bred Krafty Krackers (Ars Vivendi – Diamond Serpent) were eighth, while Carl Webb rode HHS Ice Flo (Iceman De Muze - Cyrano 145) into ninth place as the fastest four-falter for breeder Kevin Meagher and owners Bravo Hughes Ltd.

Junior Jack Geaney guided Donal Lynch’s BS Tiesto (Douglas VDL – Highland King) bred by Diana H Warrington into 10th.

The penultimate qualifying spot went to Leah Stack aboard GBBS Int Ltd’s owned and bred BP Wonder (Vigo D’Arsouilles - VDL Arkansas) while the final place was awarded to the Korena Byrne-owned and bred River Jordan (Avos Jordan Z – Poltarf) with Richard Kerins on board.
