IT was a worthwhile journey for the Army Equitation School’s Captain Geoff Curran to Marion Hughes’ HHS in Kilkenny on Wednesday, as he took the first two placings in the Underwriting Exchange Grand Prix at the Hughes Horse Stud inaugural show.

First to go in the timed round aboard Tempo Manor, he delivered the faster of just two double clears in a time of 43.45 seconds. Speaking afterwards, Curran said: “I am delighted with the result today. As I was last to go with Drumiller Lough, I didn’t push him because I had the class in hand. Alan (Wade) always designs great courses and it suited me today.
