FOLLOWING three rounds, the pilot CoilÓg Pro Series came to a conclusion at the Kildare venue on Thursday. In the four-year-old judged class, Lanaken gold medal winner Ethen Ahearne and his own BT Callandro claimed victory when finishing on a score of 101 to take home the winner’s share of the €1,500 on offer. Bred by Jimmy Murray, the mare is by Colandro out of the Ard Grandpa-sired Ganaveens Lady.

It has been a good few weeks for Tipperary rider Liam O’Meara who was crowned Munster Grand Prix Champion this month and took the win in Maryville in the HSI Development Class last Sunday with Sir Jim Jim (see report above).

Following closely behind here was O’Meara and the Stacey Watling-owned Danny Dazzler on a score of 98. Bred by Bryan Gee, this gelding is by Tyson out of Lvs Florie.

O’Meara also took third place with his own Ballykealy Stella when he finished one point behind on a score of 97. Bred by Eamonn Kenny, the mare is by his own stallion Big Dan Rouet and is out of the Russel-sired dam Levallys Girl.

Kildare’s Nicola FitzGibbon accounted for fourth place with Mark Bolger and Aurore Vernois’s One Day Maybe, on a score of 96.

Bred by Patrick Hogan, the mare is by Bentley Van De Heffinck out of the Kannan-sired dam Kannan Queen. This combination had demonstrated good form taking sixth place in the four-year-old championship at this year’s Irish Breeders’ Classic.

Just two points behind was Hannah Fleming and KSF St Lewis on 94 points for fifth place. Bred by William Buckley, this gelding is by Luidam out of the Tinka’s Boy-sired Dilou M. Derek Shaw and Knockahaw Chilli Sam, finished on a score of 87 for sixth place. Owned by Michael Shaw and bred by Robert Shaw, the stallion is by H&M Chilli Willi out of the Voltaire-sired Ultiem V.

Winner of the five-year-old division was Stevan Holland, who was riding Orla Doyle’s Diamant De Semilly-sired Dante DV Z. This partnership was fastest of four double clears in 33.07. Liam O’Meara also featured in this line-up, taking second place with One Step Closer, when they stopped the clock in 34.32. Paul Sarsfield was just over a second slower with his own Drumgoole Lass in a time of 35.55 for third place.

Last of the double clears in 41.74 was Nicola FitzGibbon with Langara Ventures’ Gracefield Apollo in a time of 41.74. Fastest of the fourth-faulters in 91.86 was Ethen Ahearne who was riding Orla O’Neill’s Cassidy VH Kapelhof Z. Completing the top six was Feaha Moore with her own Berlin Lad, in 104.84.

O’Meara does it again

It was a good outing for Liam O’Meara as he led the victory lap in the six-year-old division. Riding CSF Day Dreamer, he lodged the winning clear in 32.22. Feaha Moore took the runner-up spot with Tom McGurk’s Kannan Contessa when they also delivered a double clear, albeit in a slower time of 34.56. Taking third place when they also delivered a clear in a time of 34.72 were Brendan McArdle and his home-bred Brackley’s Lulu.

Liam O’Meara took yet another share of the €1,500 prize fund when he partnered Stacey Watling’s Sligo Puzzle Peace to a clear in 35.11. The last double clear was lodged by Derek McConnell and Sorcha Hennessy’s Sirana Cornet in 36.81. Ross Gallagher proved out of luck with Cartone Clare, when they came home with one on the ground in a time of 38.79.

O’Meara added to his haul again as he took the win in the seven-year-olds with his own stallion Big Dan Rouet, fastest of the clears in 89.45. He also took the runner-up spot when he delivered the only other double clear of the class with the Jim Seymour-owned and -bred mare June Johnson in 98.75.
