MORE than 300 of racing’s elite gathered on Tuesday at the Dorchester Hotel in London for the 24th Cartier Awards, the highlights of which were the honouring of Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum with the Cartier/Daily Telegraph Order of Merit and the crowning of Kingman as Cartier Horse of the Year. The awards were established in 1991 to reward excellence in horseracing.
