The main event of the day was the All Ireland ridden hunter championship which is now in its 11th year. Favour fell with the Yvonne Pearson-owned Double Take, an 11-year-old gelding by Ricardo Z, who was expertly shown by Lesley Webb while Judy Pearson’s six-year-old by Belclare Cross filled the reserve spot.

Despite very strong opposition in both of the All Ireland championships, and to the delight of the local followers, the Irish Draught championship title remained within Galway once again as Craughwell native Maria McNamara returned to defend her title, and again claimed victory, this time with her father Tom’s five-year-old gelding Shanbally Willow.
