FORMER Ballydoyle filly Minorette (by Smart Strike) was out of luck at Keeneland on Saturday night, finishing only fifth behind Crown Queen in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes over nine furlongs, but one of her relations took the final race at the Curragh the following day.

Second Step (by Dalakhani), who is trained by Luca Cumani for his owner-breeder Merry Fox Stud Ltd, won the Listed Finale Stakes over 12 furlongs, his third win from six starts, and his first attempt in blacktype company. The three-year-old is a full-brother to the dual winner Mallory Heights and these two geldings are their dam’s first two foals.
