DAVID Egan wrote his name into racing’s history books in Saudi Arabia last Saturday when he partnered Mishriff to win the $20 million Saudi Cup, the world’s most valuable horse race.

The 21-year-old jockey from Co Kildare, son of John Egan and Sandra Hughes, earned $1 million personally for his success, though he was fined $100,000 for excessive use of the whip.
