The curtain came down on the Future Event Horse League on Wednesday at Tullymurry where Sarah Ennis received some slight compensation for missing Aachen by winning the five-year-old league with Stellor Hotshot while the absent Kilcannon Merlin landed the four-year-old league.

“The day went off well and if the league ended unceremoniously, I think we had two good winners,” reflected Harold McGahern one of the founding members of the FEHL some 15 years ago. “The league was (the late) Ronnie MacMahon’s brainchild.
