All horses catalogued for the upcoming Arqana August Yearling Sale are eligible for five new races in 2023, worth a total of €1.2 million.

The Arqana Series is reserved for colts and fillies offered at Deauville sales, with the five races to take place between Deauville and ParisLongchamp.

Two of the races are for unraced horses, one for colts and one for fillies, each worth €170,000. The remaining three contests are conditions races worth €270,000. The prize money will be allotted to both the owner of the horse and vendor, going down to fifth position in each case.

There will also be prize money payable to the winning vendors.

Inaugural

The inaugural series will be exclusively open to horses bought at the 2022 August Yearling Sale, 2022 September Yearling Sale, 2022 October Yearling Sale, 2022 November Yearling Sale, and the 2023 Breeze-Up Sale (two-year-olds).

All horses that have been sold and bought back are eligible, only lots that were withdrawn are not qualified for the series, while foals that enter the ring at the 2022 Breeding Sale will also be eligible for the 2024 series.

The owners of a horse eligible for the series will have to nominate their horse before June 1st, 2023 at a cost of €1,000 for the two-year-old races. For the three-year-old race, the nomination fee is €500, to be paid by June 1st, 2024.

All horses concerned must be declared in training before June 1st, whether they are in France or abroad.
