THE dam of last Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Uni is one of the star lots in the Arqana Breeding Stock Sale, which runs from December 7th to 10th in Deauville.

This year’s edition will see 480 mares, 207 fillies, 335 foals and three stallions go through the ring. A further 12 wildcards will be announced later, including late entries for the final day of the sale, which is dominated by National Hunt breeding.

Watch Me, winner of this year’s Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot was sold in utero at this sale in December 2015 when her dam Watchful was offered by Coulonces Consignment.

Numerous top-class winners in Japan and Australia were also sourced in the same manner at the Arqana December Sale.

The sale also represents an opportunity to buy the first mares in foal to the young stallions Cloth Of Stars, Cracksman, Harry Angel, Postponed, Recoletos, Roaring Lion, Saxon Warrior, Seahenge, Sioux Nation and U S Navy Flag, as well as the first European crop of Zoustar.

A total of 263 flat-bred foals will go under the hammer during the first three days of the sale, including foals from the first crops of Aclaim, Al Wukair, Almanzor, Attendu, Birchwood, Brametot, Caravaggio, Churchill, Counterattack, Ectot, Highland Reel, Johnny Barnes, Kingfisher, National Defense, Profitable, Ribchester, The Grey Gatsby, Ultra, Ulysses, Wings Of Eagles, Zarak and Zelzal.

Lot 125: WONDER OF LIPS, Group 1 placed, with a current rating of 103. This four-year-old daughter of Champs Elysees is from the family of Waldgeist.
