THE Arqana Summer Sale took place on just one day this year, during which 198 lots went under the hammer. This was half the size of last year’s two-day sale.

Eagerly anticipated, the Sylvain Dehez-trained Prunay attracted plenty of attention, with agent Toby Jones coming out on top for the wild card entry at €240,000. Offered by Jean-Marie Callier, the Prince Gibraltar gelding recently finished third in the Grade 3 Prix Aguado on his second outing over jumps. “I’ve bought him for one of my long-standing clients. He’ll go to Ireland,” said Jones. “He really stood out - he’s a good-looking individual and is still a maiden that could go over fences. He really ticks all the boxes.”
