THIS is probably the hardest sales preview of the year to write and yet the most enjoyable. There are 550 yearlings in Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale next week at Tattersalls and you would give your right arm for just about any one of them.

Book 1 truly is the flagship yearling sale of Europe, if not the world. The catalogue includes 25 yearlings by Dubawi, 27 by Frankel, 26 by Kingman, 35 by Lope De Vega, 28 by Sea The Stars, 25 by Siyouni and 17 by the late Galileo.

There are own or half-brothers and sisters to a remarkable 61 classic and Group 1 winners and 223 group race and listed winners.

This year’s 1000 Guineas winner Cachet, July Cup winner Alcohol Free, Commonwealth Cup winner Perfect Power and Coronation Stakes winner Inspiral are among the stars with siblings catalogued.

No less than 12 classic and Group/Grade 1-winning mares have yearlings catalogued including Nightime and Sky Lantern, both of whom have produced Group 1 winners and have colts by Dubawi and Kingman respectively.

There are 16 yearlings on offer by Galileo including an own brother to Arc winner Waldgeist. Unfortunately the own brother to the Group 1 winners Hydrangea, Hermosa and The United States has been withdrawn, as has the Study Of Man half-brother to this year’s Derby winner Desert Crown.

Dubawi is represented by an own brother to champion Ghaiyyath and five colts out of classic and Group 1-winning mares.

The largest consignment comes from last year’s sale-topping Newsells Park Stud who will offer an outstanding team of 30 yearlings, followed by Baroda Stud and Highclere Stud who both have 24 lots catalogued.

All yearlings catalogued are eligible for the £20,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus scheme which had its 307th winner last weekend.
