THE two powerhouses in racing and breeding were to the fore at a remarkable session of the Tattersalls December Sale on Tuesday. They were each responsible for purchasing a lot that realised more than two million guineas.

John Ferguson, the sale’s leading buyer, paid 2,700,00gns for Hanky Panky and her appeal was obvious. Sold by John Sikura through Highclere Stud, the daughter of Galileo is carrying her second foal, this time by Dubawi. She has a filly foal by Declaration Of War. Group-placed when raced by the Coolmore partners. Hanky Panky is a half-sister to the champion racehorse and sire Giant’s Causeway and to the dam of the outstanding trio of Gleneagles, Marvellous and Coolmore.
