DRISH Venture, twice a winner at Dundalk in December and January, topped trade on the opening day of the Goffs February Sale Part 1 on Tuesday.

The online sale featured two-year-olds, older horses and horses-in-training, and it saw 44 horses sold for an average price of €8,630.

A three-year-old gelding by Mehmas, Drish Venture was owned and trained by Donal Commins in Thurles and ran off a rating of 84 when third on his latest start at Dundalk last Friday. He was bought today by Bert Kerr, who has had a lot of recent success buying horses for clients in Central Europe.

The next highest-priced lot of the day was for Razdan from the Aga Khan Studs. The three-year-old gelding by Zoffany, who was placed last month, sold online to Chris Timmons for €32,000.

The sale continues at noon on Wednesday with a session dedicated to breeding stock.
