Grangeclare West proved the star attraction of the Tattersalls Cheltenham Sale on Thursday when selling to Gordon Elliott and Cheveley Park for £430,000.

The son of Presenting ran out the most impressive debut winner of his maiden point-to-point for Denis Murphy and Edelle Logan at Lingstown on November 22nd, the same maiden won by Shishkin.

He attracted bids from a number of different parties including underbidder Tom Malone but the gavel came down in favour of Gordon Elliott and Cheveley Park Stud for £430,000 with David Thompson in attendance.

Guily Billy will also be sporting the famous red, white and blue colours of Cheveley Park Stud after realising £310,000. The four-year-old Coastal Path gelding powered clear of his rivals to win his maiden point to point for Donnchadh Doyle at Tinahely in good style last month.

Captain Quint, runner-up to Guily Billy in his point-to-point for Denis Murphy, caught the imagination of Gerry Hogan and Rose Dobbin who succesfully purchased the son of the great Flemensfirth via Jamie Codd, who was taking instructions on the telephone.

Fameaftertheglory produced a very taking debut performance just last Sunday when winning the four-year-old maiden at Mainstown (Kilmoganny) for Donnchadh Doyle. He will now continue his career at Gavin Cromwell's Danestown Stables after the trainer went to £100,000 to secure him.

Matthew Prior, head of Tattersalls Cheltenham Sales, commented: "As has been the case for so many in the bloodstock and racing industry in 2020, the point-to-point sector has experienced huge disruptions and challenges as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

"Having been unable to return to Chelteham Racecoure since the Cheltenham Festival, we are incredibly grateful to our loyal vendors and purchasers who have shown great resilience in supporting the necessary fixture changes during the autumn season.

"It has been with great pleasure and pride that today we have welcomed the National Hunt fraternity to Tattersalls in Newmarket for the first ever point to point sale to be staged at Park Paddocks, and we were delighted with a top price of £430,000 which was the third highest price in Tattersalls Cheltenham's history.

"Naturally our desire is for the Tattersalls Cheltenham sales to return to the home of National Hunt Racing at the earliest opportunity in 2021, but until such time today's healthy trade has demonstrated Park Paddock's ability to service the sector with distinction."
