GRAIGUENAMANAGH veterinary surgeon Diarmuid Ryan, who qualified for Dublin last year, was quick out of the blocks on Thursday when the first of the RDS small event horse qualifiers was hosted at Scarteen by Chris and Sue Ryan.

Ryan qualified his two mounts, landing the class with one of only two clear rounds under the time allowed of 170 seconds with Judy Quirke’s Cullion Kemira, the winner of two EI 90 competitions. The 150cms grey mare, who is by the Connemara stallion Ganty Blazer, was bred in Castlederg, Co Tyrone by David Finlay out of the Corran Ginger mare Corran Jenny who amassed 33 SJI points in pony classes.
