THERE have been any amount of top-class two-mile chasers to have graced the Irish scene over the last two decades and since 2003 the Queen Mother Champion Chase has gone to Irish-trained horses on six occasions.

At present the likes of Douvan, Chacun Pour Soi, Un De Sceaux, Ballyoisin, Duc Des Genievres and Cilaos Emery are likely Grade 1-winnning two-milers that are trained in Ireland but, beneath this elite level, there is a noteworthy dearth of runners in this division.
