THE return of National Hunt racing to Thurles last week served up an eventful conclusion to the day’s feature where the returning The Bosses Oscar recorded a two-and-a-quarter-length triumph over Rightplacerightime.

The winner was the best horse in the race, of that there is little doubt, but he did cause significant interference to the runner-up and this incident highlighted that the rules pertaining to interference are in need of an overhaul. Early last year the whip rules in Ireland were subject to a significant level of reform and perhaps the time has now come for an overhaul of another part of the rule book.
