THE last number of weeks have witnessed a growing sense of concern surrounding the state of the polytrack surface at Dundalk and this climaxed in the track inspection that followed the opening race there on Wednesday evening.

Unease about the surface at Dundalk has manifested itself into public criticism, and calls for the surface to be replaced have grown steadily louder. It is felt that the surface in its present state has changed considerably from what it was when all-weather racing first took place at Dundalk in August 2007, which is quite understandable given the rigours of time and use.
