THIS week witnessed some great trade at the top of the market at the Orby Sale which was headed by a quartet of seven-figure lots and the second highest priced filly in the sale’s history.

Over the course of the two days, buyers and vendors alike remarked that quality stock was selling very well. This has reflected the characteristics of the yearling market as a whole for the last few years where the growth and demand is concentrated at the top end of the market. As has been the case for quite some time, this sector is the preserve of major international buyers, and one only has to look at the top 10 purchasers at this week’s sale to confirm this.
