I TOOK my older on to the local point-to-point last May at Peper Harow, which is hard to spell and harder still to get to using public transport and a pushchair (don’t ask, and definitely don’t try it).
Peper Harow is a delightful little track where the races start and finish in a chute up the centre of the track, much like Cartmel, only the other way around. The crowd huddle in the infield, which leads to quite an intimate atmosphere, and in theory you are never very far away from the action, but given the inside of the track also doubles at the car park, picnic area, and an actual fairground, in reality you tend only to see the horses through gaps between vehicles, concession stands and trees.
