MY visit this week to the yearling sale in Doncaster, conducted by the team at Goffs UK, was to find out on the ground what was happening in and out of the sale ring. At any sale there are stories of success and failure, but what is always more intriguing are the reasons for these happenings.

Many vendors went to the sale with a degree or two of trepidation, and talk generally about Brexit and its likely effects were fuelling some of that pre-sale fear. There can be no doubt that the continuing uncertainty about the effects of Brexit are unsettling, and not just for the bloodstock industry. However, it is not the main concern for racing and our breeding sector.
