While Arrogate [134] and Winx [132] continue to easily maintain their one-two positions, the Irish-bred Ribchester [124] has taken over the third spot in the latest edition of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings for 2017.

Ribchester earned his ranking with a dominating three and three-parts of a length victory in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury last month. It was his second start of the season, after finishing third in the Dubai Turf.

Trained by Richard Fahey, Ribchester is a shade of odds-on with some bookmakers to win the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday week.

Sitting just behind Ribchester in the new rankings is dual Guineas hero Churchill [123]. The three-year-old colt followed up his one-length win in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket by taking the Irish equivalent by two and a half lengths. He is the ninth horse to complete the double.

French Derby winner Brametot [121], Oaks heroine Enable [121], and Coronation Cup victor Highland Reel [121] join this year’s rankings after strong showings in key races.

Enable, who has won three of four lifetime starts, pulled away to win the Oaks by five lengths.

Brametot's Prix du Jockey Club win last Sunday followed a similar last-gasp win in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains.

Cloud Computing [120] posted an upset in the Preakness Stakes in the United States, while in Japan, Rey De Oro [120] took the Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby).
