AIDAN O’Brien plans to run Rhododendron and Lancaster Bomber in the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.

O’Brien has also confirmed Deauville and War Decree, but at this stage intends to launch a dual assault on the Group One over a mile.

He said: “We are going to run Rhododendron and Lancaster Bomber if the ground is nice.

“Rhododendron is good and she has come forward for her first run in France.

“I’m not convinced she really stays (a mile and a quarter). This is back to a mile for the first time since the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.”

Nineteen horses have been confirmed for the Lockinge, including Addeybb (William Haggas), Beat The Bank (Andrew Balding) and Limato (Henry Candy).

The Fozzy Stack-trained Alexios Komnenos and Ger Lyons’ Psychedelic Funk could also travel across from Ireland.
