WEST Australian-born Damian Lane is steadily moving into the upper echelon of riders. Established with the Ellerton/Zahra stable since arriving in Melbourne as an apprentice, he also gains support from the Darren Weir and Hayes/Dabernig yards.
Having now had multiple 100-win seasons, Lane landed a two-month contract in Hong Kong in 2015, seven months after winning his first Group 1. This year the 22-year-old has consolidated himself in the senior ranks, sitting fifth in the Metropolitan Jockeys’ table while filling a temporary vacancy in Hong Kong, riding there until International Day on December 11th.
