AMBITIOUS young competitors in all sports suffered greatly during 2020 as many are now moving out of their age groups without having had the opportunity to represent their country at international level which would have been their aim at the start of the year.

For those involved in equestrianism, there is the additional – and expensive – complication of having a suitable mount to compete with in the next age group or as riders move into the senior ranks and, with many households having taken a financial hit because of Covid-19, international aspirations may have to wait some time before being
realised.
