GERMAN rider Isabell Werth enjoyed a season of unparalleled success in 2017. The retirement of Valegro in the wake of the Rio Olympics left the door open for Werth to return to her throne as the undisputed queen of dressage, and her reign began with her third World Cup Final victory in Omaha last spring.

It continued to include another German National title and triple gold at the European Championships in Gothenburg, before culminating with being named as the FEI’s Best Athlete for 2017.
