Murless achievement: Today is the last day of the Flat season in Britain, and correspondent “Fleet Street” writes the leader article, which is headed “Great Season For British Horses”.

“Fleet Street” writes that the 1967 Flat season will be remembered mainly for two items: first, the achievement of trainer Noel Murless in winning over a quarter of a million pounds in prize money; second, the lack of success by French-trained horses in Britain. “The prize money tide which in every post-war year flowed from England to France really turned at last this season. French horses did not score a single victory in England, but English, and Irish, horses brought back a steady stream of francs.”
