FROM lifetime traceability to safeguarding against equine welfare issues, CEO of Horse Sport Ireland, Ronan Murphy, is adamant there must be a comprehensive National Equine Database in Ireland.

“I believe we should have in Ireland, a National Equine Database which would ensure that every single equine is identified at the earliest stage in its lifetime,” said Murphy who envisages that this identification would include DNA, markings, and provide a record of any medication from the animal’s earliest days.”
