FOR a major handicap today’s Northumberland Plate (3.35) – the Pitmen’s Derby - has seen favourites hit the mark quite frequently with three winning in the last 10 years. Also, Higher Power in 2017 and Quest For More in 2015 were both winning as second favourites.

Willie Mullins has had three runners in the race in recent years. Back in 2014 Lucky Bridle started at 8/1 under Paul Hanagan but was unplaced. Max Dynamite was second in 2015 at 16/1 and Lagostovegas (seventh) went off at 9/1 with Leigh Roche last year.
