A RECENT visit to Newmarket provided an interesting perspective on the common challenges facing the racing industry in different countries regarding the recruitment and retention of young people.

RACE represented Ireland, along with Elaine Burke from CARE, at a seminar of European racing schools and we shared experiences with the two UK training providers, British Racing School and Northern Racing College, along with representatives from the French AFASEC organisation who manage a network of five regional schools and provide welfare and social supports for all racing employees at their principal training centres.
