MARK Dwyer had a second reason to be happy with the results at Kempton Park on Wednesday. Northern Thunder’s victory in the six-furlong nursery was yet another for a horse that Dwyer had successfully pinhooked.

Having been retained by his breeders as a foal for €30,000, Northern Thunder then looked something of a bargain buy as a yearling when Dwyer snapped him up for just £16,000 at Doncaster. A few months later at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale the colt was sold again, this time for a nice profit at 36,000gns.
