39 ACRES at Ballycahan, Kilcock, fetched €625,000 at a public auction in Maynooth handled by REA Coonan last Tuesday, April 5th, with a solicitor acting on behalf of a client outbidding four other parties.

This sale price values the farmland at almost €16,000/acre, compared to the €10,000 to €12,000/acre commanded by land in the same region over the last two years, according to the agents. The 39 acres are presently in tillage and grass, but will make a nice agricultural enterprise as they have a four-bay hay barn, two lean-tos, and a collecting yard, as well as excellent road frontage. Also sold at the auction was a 6.2-acre parcel of agricultural land on Ballygoran, 2km outside Maynooth, for €115,000, representing €18,5000/acre.
