AN idea hatched in 2014, the concept of garden eventing has now become firmly established at Lusk Equestrian, where 150 combinations competed last weekend. The competition involves jumping a course of fences in the show jumping arena before heading out onto the cross-country course for the second phase.

Jenny and Harold Lusk used their wealth of knowledge of both show jumping and eventing to design both courses and in the arena there were 18 fences incorporating coloured poles, rustic fences, skinnies, water trays and stiles. The latter part of the course timed for scoring purposes. Out across the country, there were 16 fences including drains, drops, water, logs, barrels and the new Knockany Castle complex.
