LAST Sunday, amateur riders flocked to Mullingar Equestrian Centre to battle it out in the Amateur Show & Midlands Branch Horse & Pony Final. Co Meath man Peter Dargan who took the win in the Irish Farmers Journal A Championship Final. Riding his own 18-year-old mare, Temple Cruise (Cruising x Temple Court), he delivered a double clear in 32.43. The win was all the more special as Peter nearly lost the mare to colic last July.

The mare was bred by Co Derry’s Gabrielle Doherty and she has produced two foals, one of whom, Hill Farm Meadow, was campaigned by John Floody and now Michelle McElhatton.
