KEEPING track of her home-bred horses has been of some solace for Leixlip’s Penny Guinness following the death in August of her husband Desmond, co-founder of the Irish Georgian Society.

Last Saturday, James O’Haire partnered Penny’s eight-year-old Liberty Belle to victory in the Open EI110 at Punchestown and, for good measure, finished fifth in the same class on that Heritage Fortunus mare’s 15-year-old half-sister, Nancy Belle, a daughter of Don Juan de la Bouverie. They are out of Penny’s home-bred Cavalier Royale mare Grace Darling.
