AMONG those volunteering at Saturday’s one-day event in Finvoy was Lucca Stubington who will be out of the saddle for a short time at least having damaged the talus bone in her ankle following an unseating at Tyrella (3). The Antrim rider has said ankle in an air cast for a couple of weeks after which the injury will be reviewed.

This will be a frustrating period for Stubington who has a nice string of horses for the season as has Co Meath’s Michael McNally who is in a similar situation. He hurt his ankle in a fall at Tyrella (1) and, while thinking he would be quickly back in action, the injury proved to be worse than first thought and he will likewise be modelling a surgical boot until May 13th.
