LAST weekend was an exciting one for Wicklow’s Georgia Kehoe as she took part in her first ever showing competition with her new pony Zara at Glandoran show. Although Georgia is from a show jumping background, she jumped at the opportunity to take part at the Wexford venue where the pony was stabled.

Helped by her new friend Carla Mullen (13), the pair set about training for the first show. With Carla by her side, all was possible and the pair were rewarded as they both took home ribbons. Georgia’s mum, Emer Bermingham said: “It was Georgia’s first time in the show ring and it was the pony’s first ever show, so we didn’t know what to expect. Carla and Caroline Mullen helped us so much, as did many people on the day. It was nice to know that people took an interest and really wanted to help. The show was relaxed and it was just such a nice atmosphere. I think in these times, it’s great to see children help each other out and to want to see others do well.”
