FINISHING touches are being put to the bumper Showing Show of the Year which will be held on June 18th at Mullingar Equestrian Centre with entries closing on June 8th next.

Show organiser Vincent Holien and a dedicated small team have been flat out organising what is shaping up to be a great event.

Now in its ninth year, it’s the biggest show so far to date and with a total of €8,000 in funding from Horse Sport Ireland on board, there’s plenty of good prizes to be won across a wide array of classes.

“We have a very valuable breeding Broodmare Championship with a prize fund of €2,000 as well as TIH classes and the Abbott new Foal Classes plus a new ring open to IPS members and non-members alike. The Show is getting bigger and better each year. Last year, we had a huge show with 550 entries,” said Vincent whose two shops Forever Equestrian tack show and the Forever Equestrian boutique summer show shop will both be open.

Entry could not be easier, simply go to MullingarEquestrian.com and enter there or you can enter on the day itself although this is more expensive.

The Showing Show of the Year is also hosting new Horse Sport Ireland breeding Connemara Pony classes and Youngstock classes, plus a whole ring of Working Hunters and Racehorse to Riding Horse class. (Contact Vincent at 087 955 7739 for any enquiries).

Emily Taylor of Westmeath Foxhounds is organising the Westmeath Foxhounds Barn Dance which will be held in the new pavillion at Mullingar Equestrian on the Friday night (tickets and more details on the hunt’s Facebook page). Stabling is available for the weekend with hook -up from Friday to Sunday, so why not make a weekend of it and then travel on to the Athlone Show on June 19th?
