THERE may not be a lot in common between winning the Gold Cup at Cheltenham and an EI100 class at Tyrella but Global Harley D, who landed a division of the pre-novice at the Co Down venue on Saturday, is now being produced from the same yard as was Lord Windermere when he claimed chasing’s blue riband in 2014.

The yard at Churchtown in Co Cork is owned by Jim Culloty who, as a jockey, recorded a Cheltenham Gold Cup hat trick on the great Best Mate (2002-2004) and won the Grand National on Bindaree (2002). As a trainer, Culloty’s principal owner was Dr Ronan Lambe in whose colours Lord Windermere won the RSA Chase in 2013 before returning for more Festival glory the following year.
