THE Ballymacad Hunt is hosting a Charity Hunt Trek and Hike on Sunday, March 12th in memory of their long standing member Cathryn Aubrey (née Gibney) who sadly passed away last April, just short of her 60th birthday.

The event will start in Ballinlough village at 1.30pm and will be followed by a charity auction in The Halfway House. Adult entries are €35 each, children €25 each and walkers admission is free. All proceeds will go to Cancer Trials Ireland.

Cathryn’s passion for hunting started with stories of hunting feats from her father Enda as she accompanied him on veterinary calls as a child . She soon was gathering her own stories hunting as a teenager, and throughout her adult life. She continued to hunt even during her serious illness from cancer with such good heart and bravery.

As a committee member and secretary, Cathryn gave it her all, encouraging everyone around her with her smile and kind words.

There is something missing this season without her presence in the hunting field.

The trek and walk will start in her local village, Ballinlough, crossing the lovely Loughcrew countryside.

This will be followed by an auction in The Halfway House in Ballinlough. All proceeds are going to Cancer Trials Ireland, the charity selected by her husband George and family (visit https://www.cancertrials.ie/)

The Ballymacads hope to make this a fitting tribute to a wonderful woman and friend so please come along and support this worthy event.
