THE Irish Horse World’s favourite zoo keeper, Helen Clarke, featured on many media platforms this week as Dublin Zoo officially announced the birth of a baby western lowland gorilla to first-time mother Kafi.
A first offspring since his arrival in Ireland for father Bangui, the baby gorilla’s sex was still unknown earlier this week as Kafi was keeping him or her close to her chest. Western lowland gorillas are classified as critically endangered because of hunting, deforestation of their habitats and the highly-contagious Ebola virus.
